Shopping for a wedding dress or mother-of-the-bride/groom is a daunting but fabulous experience - below are some of our most frequently asked questions - is your question not on the list? Please message us and we will be happy to help.
Do I need to book an appointment?
We highly recommend booking an appointment, especially on a Saturday, so we can give you the time you deserve. We offer a personal one to one service so you will be allocated a dedicated assistant and have a fitting room assigned to you.
When is the best time to shop for my outfit/dress?
With special occasionwear its not like shopping the highstreeet, we are unable to order once a size has sold, we order 6 months in advance and it is made for us. We do not order every dress from every collection and we don't order every size. So do bear that in mind.
At Dreams we are proud to offer a lovely size selection from 8-32 in our special occasionwear for mother-of-the-bride and mother-of-the-groom.
How many people can I bring with me?
We can accommodate no more than 3 guests with the mother-of-the-bride, mother-of-the-groom etc. Our fitting rooms are offset to give you a private suite for choosing your special outfit. This is for your comfort and we all know that well-known saying "too many cooks". So choose wisely.
Do you offer alterations?
Yes we do. We have an independent seamstress who works within the shop along side us. Alterations are a separate cost, so make sure that you have factored this into your budget. Can I book an appointment on the day or walk in?
We will always try to accommodate you if you happen to be passing, however priority will be given to appointments so we may ask you to pop back later in the day or you may be asked to wait.
You can always call us before you set off and we can check our diary for any cancellations. If you do need to cancel please contact us and we will happily rearrange your appointment, we wont be offended if you just change your mind.
Do you charge for appointments?
We do not charge for our appointments - so please if you are unable to make your booked appointment please please let us know - we wont be offended!

Dont judge it on a hanger! - we all do it! We are guilty of it aswell but "mother-of-the-bride/groom" outfits have zero hanger appeal, they really need a body in them to make them look fabulous! You can't just browse occasionwear! If you half like it pick it up and try it on!
Come in with an open mind - if you don't like it on the hanger 9 times out of 10 you will end up LOVING IT on! If you don't like it don't worry- we wont be offended!
We are here to help so don't be afraid to be be honest - if you don't love it - tell us! We wont be offended! But please please please try it first!!!
We may from time to time bring you a "wildcard" you will look at us as if we are mad! You would be very surprised by the number of ladies who purchase the wildcard outfit.
You may need alterations - all of us are different shapes and sizes, we also aren't the same size on top to the bottom! All dresses and outfits can be altered to you. It may be a little shoulder lift or a nip at the waist, but this can totally transform your look. We have an independent seamstress who works within the shop who is on hand to help with any alterations questions! Factor this into your budget as well.

Shop when YOU are ready - There is no right or wrong time to start your search.
Bring the right people with you. If you think you need the bride, your daughter, son or husband - bring the decision maker with you! A picture from a phone with your best tights or socks on doesn't have the same impact.

Allow enough time for an appointment and for trying on.
This is a really important tip! - An appointment is approximately 1 hour for a special occasionwear outfit, so allow yourself enough time - there is nothing worse than the feeling of a pressing engagement.
Underwear - please please wear some (haha) if you can wear the underwear that you are looking to wear for your special occasion that will help if you need any alterations as a poorly fitted bra can change the look of an outfit. Nude and seamless is our recommendation! (We are big fans of big knickers - the bigger the better!!!)

Special occasionwear sizing isn't the same as the highstreet - so ignore the size and don't take it to heart! You may need to size up in certain designers and down for others, it depends a lot on the fabric and the structure of the dress. It is about what loves and works for you and remember you can cut the tag out!
Accessories - most ladies have never worn a hat, hatinator or fascinator (its just not your normal day to day look) but try one with the outfit! It could just be the finishing touch you need! We also have a FABULOUS range of shoes with matching bags again its the little touches that can make the outfit yours!
